December 12th, 2009, 3:34pm–We last reported that Rupert Grint’s indie flick Cherrybomb is currently in negotiations for distribution deals in the U.S.A and other countries. For the entire year Rupert Grint fans from all sites/communities have worked on this on-going campaign and we have one more challenge that the Little Film Company has asked us to carry out. The lovely Marcelle with Rupert-Grint.Com.Br first came to us with a great fan project to help promote Cherrybomb by the fans creating videos supporting Cherrybomb in their own language. For example Brazilians would say: ‘Eu quero Cherrybomb no Brasil.’ (I want Cherrybomb in Brazil’), and then fans from other countries would do the same in their language and so on. Marcelle plans to put the videos together and make subtitles. You can send it in to staff@rupert-grint.us or rupertgrint.site@gmail.com and we will combine the clips into one video. The Little Film Company finds these things very helpful to use as they are trying to gain more distribution for this film… so we are all helping each other! We sincerely hope more fan communities from other regions will participate because we definitely can’t do it alone and team work is essential in this campaign!! We have staffers who can speak all languages so don’t worry about that, just contact us and we will hook you up with the right person so you can tell us what you want to do to help!

UPDATE: For those who can’t film anything you can simply send in a written message for us to display for you. ;) Just give name and location!! Or if you want to display a sign with the words that is fine too. Anything goes, contact us with questions.

Rupert Grint Delighted By Fan Campaign! Cherrybomb Finds Distributor?

» October 4 by Tao in CB News, Rupert News with 88 Comments

ta1md2October 4, 2009, 12:24pm–The Independent quotes Rupert Grint in saying how delighted he is about the fan campaign for Cherrybomb and that he backs it wholeheartedly!

“I am backing this campaign wholeheartedly,” he said. “I’m delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings.”

In even bigger, exciting news, The Independent states the campaign has helped secure a distribution deal in Britain and details will be announced next week. We will be looking more into this to let you know all the details!

Robbie Little, of The Little Film Company, has also been quoted as saying that the campaign has definitely helped. And Lisa Barros D’Sa, the co-director, has been quoted as saying how blown away they are by the support from the minute Rupert was cast in the film!

And even cooler? Ice Cream Man is mentioned as having put together the campaign! :)

You can read it all here! And give yourselves a big pat on the back because you all helped make this happen!

UPDATE: This morning, The Telegraph has reposted the story initially run by The Independent, and what’s even better, they’ve linked ICM and our petition too! Let’s hope this will attract even more fans to sign the petition: our campaign must continue until the distribution deals have been signed for all continents!

UPDATE 2: BBC News has also picked up the story and has additional quotes from Film producer Simon Bosanquet of Generator Entertainment:

“With a lot of independent films, it is hard to get them noticed,”

UPDATE: Speaking of Cherrybomb, we’ve just found this Princeton University blog, and one of their staff attended the Giffoni Festival in Italy, where Cherrybomb was screened. This blogger posted a very interesting article about the festival and its importance for educating young film audiences. Unsurprisingly, the reporter was quite impressed with Rupert’s performance:

Those in attendance saw Rupert Grint in the new Harry Potter movie which made its Italian premiere at Giffoni. Later, jurors in the +16 bracket could also see Grint in the Northern Irish film Cherrybomb where he plays, with incredible nuance, a model teen that struggles against the expectations of his family and the weight of oncoming adulthood.
