Cherrybomb At Belfast Film Festival

March 29, 2009, 1:09 PM–With only two days left until the UK premiere of Rupert Grint‘s latest flick Cherrybomb, it’s time to let you know what to expect in the next few days, and also to add a few words about the Belfast Film Festival itself.
First, we should inform you that the last information we have received is that Rupert Grint won’t attend the screening, because he is busy filming “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I”. However, things do change at the very last moment, and the Festival PR team is still announcing his attendance, so maybe there’s a trace of hope that he’ll make it eventually. Also, Robert Sheehan‘s agent has informed us that Robbie will be in Los Angeles working on another project, so it’s unlikely that he will show up in Belfast as well. However, the rest of the Cherrybomb team, including the directors Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa will be there; so, expect plenty of exclusives! Karo has just landed in Belfast, Tao and AJ are on their way as well, Jo and Soph arrive tomorrow, and I’ll join them on Monday. The rest of ICM staff will be glued to their computers, posting news and updates and answering all your queries.
The Jameson Belfast Film Festival was established in August 1995 and has continually grown over the years, to become one of the key annual events in Northern Ireland. This year, the festival kicked off with the Irish premiere of Little Ashes — a film which chronicles the life of a young Salvador Dali, played by Rupert’s Harry Potter co-star Robert Pattinson. Cherrybomb, as you all know, has been selected for the Mid-Festival Gala Screening on Monday 30 March, and due to a huge demand for tickets, an extra screening has been added on Wednesday 1 April.
The festival director Michele Devlin has said: “As the Belfast Film Festival grows each year, we are so proud of the fact that, as well as a strong selection of international and European films, we are able to showcase a burgeoning wealth of local film-making and acting talent. We have the eagerly awaited premieres of first features, the locally-made Cherrybomb and Ditching.”
