December 18th 2009, 8:08pm–It has been a very long and exciting year for Rupert Grint and for the fandom. His movie Cherrybomb premiered at the Berlin film festival and was well received by critics, yet getting a distributor was still a bit of challenge. The fans took action by campaigning, petitioning and contacting the media to show the buyers that they wanted Cherrybomb to come to their town! The work has indeed paid off and now Cherrybomb directors Lisa D’Sa Barros and Glenn Leyburn have both issued a wonderful holiday greeting and thanks to all fans for their support and dedication to this campaign. The Little Film Company have put the clip together for all of us watch via you-tube. Watch it now by clicking here.

And remember the distribution deals are set for the U.K. and the U.S. so our new CB challenge is to help other countries…We need it least one fan from each country to send us over a video or just a written message with perhaps a photo that represents your country and we can incorporate that into the video. We will make this our last challenge to end a very long and successful year.

Rupert Grint: Cherrybomb Director Interview With Hotpress!

October 20th, 2009, 4:20am-An exclusive interview with Cherrybomb co-director Glenn Leyburn has just been released by Irish society’s  provocative and hip online news magazine Hotpress. In his interview Glenn discusses Rupert Grint, the amazing soundtrack of Cherrybomb,  and fan support which ultimately helped them secure a release!

“Fans picked up on it very early on,” Leyburn observes. “We were shocked by the number that traveled over for the premiere, which was amazing. Through word of mouth more fans found out about it and set up these websites demanding a general release.”

Glenn explains how important the music has played a part in it’s over-all success and how composer David Holmes was keen to highlight the vitality of the Belfast music scene.

“David’s been involved from the development stages. It was really under his supervision that it turned out the way it did, he’s always been really good at encouraging local Northern Irish bands. We have people like Robyn G. Shiels, Cashier No. 9, The Sabrejets and Twinkranes on there, lots of local artists, which was really important to us and it’s worked absolutely great. The local acts sound fantastic on the film, a few of them are unsigned bands, but the quality of music is just incredible.”

Cherrybomb will be released in 2010 and for all of you wondering we did get confirmation that the official news will be released by the actual distributor and not “The Little Film Company” Some of you were worried and asked why we hadn’t heard anything yet so we thought we would ease your minds with that.  We will post the news here as soon as the information is released!

You can read the rest of the interview with Glenn via our press site here.

And remember we still have work to do with the campaign. We need to keep the buzz going for America and the other countries so we all can see the film in our cinemas! Check out our current challenge, and a tad bit more news on CB coming sometime this week. ;)
