ta1md2October 4, 2009, 12:24pm–The Independent quotes Rupert Grint in saying how delighted he is about the fan campaign for Cherrybomb and that he backs it wholeheartedly!

“I am backing this campaign wholeheartedly,” he said. “I’m delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings.”

In even bigger, exciting news, The Independent states the campaign has helped secure a distribution deal in Britain and details will be announced next week. We will be looking more into this to let you know all the details!

Robbie Little, of The Little Film Company, has also been quoted as saying that the campaign has definitely helped. And Lisa Barros D’Sa, the co-director, has been quoted as saying how blown away they are by the support from the minute Rupert was cast in the film!

And even cooler? Ice Cream Man is mentioned as having put together the campaign! :)

You can read it all here! And give yourselves a big pat on the back because you all helped make this happen!

UPDATE: This morning, The Telegraph has reposted the story initially run by The Independent, and what’s even better, they’ve linked ICM and our petition too! Let’s hope this will attract even more fans to sign the petition: our campaign must continue until the distribution deals have been signed for all continents!

UPDATE 2: BBC News has also picked up the story and has additional quotes from Film producer Simon Bosanquet of Generator Entertainment:

“With a lot of independent films, it is hard to get them noticed,”

May 20, 2009, 5:18 AM–Since there are no major Rupert Grint news this morning, allow us to mention here a few recent stories, all of them more-or-less Rupert related.

Cherrybomb: The team behind Rupert’s latest completed film, including the directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, and the composer David Holmes, is currently involved with a new project Good Vibrations, documenting the life of Terri Hooley (who masterminded the Northern Irish punk revolution). This article describes Cherrybomb as “the ‘sold out, stand out’ local production that starred at this year’s Belfast Film Festival” and notes that “The local success of Cherrybomb – starring Rupert Grint, Kimberley Nixon and Robert Sheehan – has this week seen it ‘explode’ at the Cannes Film Festival – as part of the producers’ bid to sign an international distribution deal.” Sheehan and Holmes were also in Cannes last week, as mentioned here. Speaking of Robert Sheehan, he has just landed a role in a new film I Was Bono’s Doppelganger, documenting the early days of Dublin’s legendary band U2. The film is produced by Mark Huffam’s Generator Entertainment (who also produced Cherrybomb), so read more about this project here.

The Deathly Hallows: First off, CBBC Newsround has a set report from Pembrokeshire — although Rupert is only mentioned, you may want to read the description of  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows set here. Also, Emma Watson has updated her official website, to note that they had a great time in Pembrokeshire, and than in two weeks she will be half-done filming her part for the DH! Finally, you may read here about the uniforms that Rupert and his co-stars are wearing in the HP films.
