June 5th, 2012, 4:10am– Rupert Grint‘s next big project, CBGB, is already creating a lot of buzz in the media before filming is set to begin later this month.

Firstly, chud.com has a lengthy article about the history of CBGB, Hilly Kristal and the town of Savannah playing a prominent role in the production of the movie. It features a lot of interesting pictures from the rock club during its most popular time, so it is definitely worth a look. The article mentions the impressive cast that the people behind the movie has started to gather, and of course our very own Rupert Grint gets an honorable mention:

Obviously some musicians with big personalities will figure into Kristal’s story, and it’s here that the film will be a playground of cameos. Word is that actors and rockstars alike are tripping over themselves to nab roles as famous rock pioneers, and I can say with certainty that some big names are right on the edge of being announced. Already we know Rupert Grint (another Harry Potter alumni, along with Rickman) will play Cheetah Chrome, who served as a guitarist for The Dead Boys at the beginning of his own long career in punk and rock music.

This coincides with a new article from The Hollywood Reporter that can reveal many more impressive names to the cast list, including Johnny Galecki, best known as Leonard Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory, and Taylor Hawkins, the drummer from Foo Fighters. You can read about these two and the many other actors that have secured a role in CBGB here.

Malin Akerman, who is playing Blondie singer Debbie Harry in CBGB, did an interview with MTV where she reveales some tidbits about the film and even mentions Rupert! Check it out here.

Lastly, if any fans would like to be in a movie with Rupert Grint and the legendary Alan Rickman, you can read this article about the open casting call in Savannah where you can become an extra in CBGB. Exciting!
