June 06, 2009, 12:10 AM–In 2007 we organized the first ever Rupert Grint fan convention in Los Angeles for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and it was a great success! Among other things, we attended the OotP premiere and the Hand/Feet/Wand ceremony — you may view our photos here, and the exclusive H/F/W videos here. So of course this year we’re going to be doing the exact same thing — only we will be expanding! We will be including a UK leg of this convention headed up by our lovely staffers Ivana and Karo, who have also put into great detail their plans for “set tour” visits to various locations of not only where Harry Potter is filmed but also Thunderpants, Driving Lessons and Wild Target!

If you are interested in joining us, we have set up an itinerary page that we plan to update regularly with the latest plans.  We also have an active thread on our forum to discuss plans and you’re welcome to email us with any other questions staff@rupert-grint.us Click below for full details.

We hope to see you there!

Update: We now have opened THREE NEW STAFFER POSITIONS! If you are interested in joining the ICM team then click here!

Update 2: We have added a few more scans from the Italian sticker book to our gallery here — including a hilarious shot of Ron almost falling off his broom!

Thanks to our friends at Portkey.it!

Update 3: Hottopic has released a new HBP shirt featuring the whole cast including Ron! You can purchase it here!

Rupert Grint: Knowledge Magazine Interview!

April 15, 2009, 9:23AM–Rupert Grint fans, rejoice: I have discovered a rare Rupert interview, conducted back in 2006 when he was promoting Driving Lessons. The interview was published in the Knowledge magazine (a weekly supplement to The Times): the feature was a part of their rubric Soundtrack Your Life, therefore Rupert mostly talked about his musical tastes and influences. Of course, his tastes might have changed slightly since then; but what is really interesting is that Rupert talked about his parents’ musical tastes too! He also complained about his unremarkable guitar skills, to which I can only respond: hey Rupert, I’m a professional musician, I’ll teach you how to play the guitar in no time!

Some memorable quotes:
“I’ve never really danced. I suppose it can be quite fun and I do like listening to dance music if I’m in the right mood – the Prodigy and Five Star are pretty good.”
“There are definitely some perks to being an actor. I went to a Velvet Revolver gig and met the guitarist, Slash, backstage. He was very nice, but he didn’t have much to say. I don’t think he was quite there, really.”
“My dad is a big Queen fan and has lots of those Best of the 1980s compilations, and my mum was a huge fan of 1970s punk.”

You may read the rest by visiting our gallery here. I have also found a nice Driving Lessons review in the same issue, so read it here.

UPDATE: Two new old pictures from the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are now available in our gallery here. Thanks to Oclumência!

UPDATE 2: Rupert’s Army we have a new assignment for you. There is a new poll at Celebrity news site cineplex.com titled “Make it or Break it.” Cineplex asks it’s readers which teen idol is most likely to succeed as an actor. Rupert has made the list and we know he’s “Made It” but let’s all still show support and cast those votes for him via their site here!
*Remember guys for past, ongoing and current polls, we have a Vote For Rupert page on the left panel where you can always check for the latest.*

Rupert Grint Featured In Russian Elle Girl!

» April 1 by Ivana in Gallery, Rupert News with 45 Comments

April 1, 2009, 6:23 AM–Rupert Grint (or Руперт Гринт, as written in Cyrillic alphabet) is featured in the latest issue of the Russian edition of Elle Girl! You might not be aware of this, but Rupert has a huge fanbase in Russia; and as some of you probably remember, Driving Lessons picked up several awards at the 2006 Moscow International Film Festival!

Many thanks to our friend Himera for sending us the scans — you can view them in our gallery here. Спасибо Маша!

For your reading pleasure I have translated the entire interview, which is quite long, and addresses several Rupert’s projects: Cherrybomb, Driving Lessons, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, Happy Birthday Peter Pan and Baggy Trousers. Read the translation here.

I must note that this is a double translation, i.e. the interview was conducted in English, then translated to Russian, and then brought back to English, so some of the quotes might not be 100% accurate (though I’ve done my best). Also, a few parts of the interview seem downright fabricated, or like a rehash of some old Rupert interviews. But even if the journalist has taken some liberties, at least they’re funny. :)

UPDATE: I’ve updated Rupert Grint’s Rave Reviews with the most recent Cherrybomb review, so read everything we’ve collected so far here (and hopefully we’ll be adding many more reviews in the days to come).

UPDATE 2: As you remember a while back we posted that Rupert was interviewed in Total Film Magazine along with his Harry Potter castmates! Unfortunately the images from TF Magazine are copyright protected; but while we can not share them here at this time, Chris Hicks with Total Film let us know we can read all about it on their site here! Thanks Chris!

UPDATE: New Cherrybomb Synopsis!

January 22, 2009, 5:23 AM–A new synopsis for Rupert Grint‘s eagerly awaited film Cherrybomb has just emerged online! Junge Journalisten (The Young Journalists, who will be reviewing the films competing in the Generation category at the Berlin Film Festival) have just updated their Cherrybomb page with a new synopsis, giving us a bit more insight into the characters’ actions and motivations. It seems to me that, after brilliantly portraying Ben Marshall in Driving Lessons, Rupert plays another teenager who has an overbearing mother! What do you think:

It’s gotta be wild to be good. The final exams are over and Malachy and Luke hang out at the leisureplex with their friends. Something needs to happen this summer – no matter what. Enter Michelle: In ankle boots and babydoll dress she struts fresh out of London and into their lives. The bomb has been lit. Who gets the girl? Or, who gets her first? Pills are downed, lines snorted and cars dented. The main thing is – not to stay home. It’s unbearable there, no matter whether it’s mother, patting her Malachy on the head, or Luke having to wake his dad from a drunken stupor. Grounded? Just let them try it! The text messages leading to the next party is about to arrive for sure. How much can this boys’ friendship take before the bomb goes off?

Oh, and as you might have noticed, the venue for Cherrybomb screening on Monday 9 February has been changed. Instead of Colosseum 1, the movie will be shown at Cinema X3Potsdamer Platz at 16:30 CET (4:30 PM).

UPDATE: Additionally, it has just been announced that Cherrybomb is also up for the Best First Feature Award at the Berlinale! For further information on this prize, click here.
Thanks to Hunter!

More Rupert Grint Rave Reviews!

» January 16 by Ivana in Rave Reviews, Rupert News with 35 Comments

January 16, 2009, 6:30PM–It has been long known that we at ICM have an insatiable appetite for any articles praising our favourite actor. Therefore, while we await the Cherrybomb reviews to start flooding, it never hurts to read more rave reviews of Rupert Grint‘s previous movie roles. I have just added seven new/old reviews of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (starting from Film Threat), plus a few articles to all other pages of our Rave Reviews section. Here’s a selection of these new quotes:

“Rupert Grint brings the right wisecracking Everyboy flavor to Harry’s pal Ron…” (Sorcerer’s Stone)

“Grint, with his rubbery face, displays great comic timing as Ron, who makes up in spell casting what he believes he lacks in social status.” (Sorcerer’s Stone)

“Because of its tricky subject matter, Goblet of Fire requires a careful balance of doom and gloom as well as adolescent frolic and a dash of nifty special effects. [...] Especially with the latter, the tone is just right, captured humorously by Ron Weasley – dealing with dating, hand-me-downs, and friendly jealousy.” (Goblet of Fire)

“In fact, the action sequences aren’t half as interesting as the humorous awkwardness of our young heroes as they navigate the dangers of being 14. Radcliffe and Grint have some electric sequences as anger and jealousy threaten Harry and Ron’s friendship…” (Goblet of Fire)

… and my favourite one:

“The chap can handle a close-up. We see him register the obvious disconnect as his teary-eyed mom utters the mantra of the minister’s wife: ‘We’re God’s ambassadors – we show the world a smiling face.’ Or the quiet disappointment as his father buries himself in bird books. Shorup-ship-see, shorup-ship-see – he tries to teach Ben the skylark’s call. Ben stands there, quiet, pained, aching to break free.” (Driving Lessons)
