Creating the score

From very early on, David Holmes, who scored the Cherrybomb soundtrack together with Stephen Hilton, hoped to bring a variety of music to the film that teenagers nowadays have, as they have access to a large range of sounds via iTunes or the internet.
Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, directors of Cherrybomb, have been working on various projects with David Holmes over the past ten years, and recently started the production company Canderblinks Film and Music Ltd. with him.
Being “on the same creative wavelength” , Lisa and Glenn agreed with David to feature rising talents from the local scene on the Cherrybomb soundtrack.

David Holmes’ first solo album (This Film’s Crap, Let’s Slash the Seats) was released in 1995, and his work has gained the attention of an international audience ever since.
His score credits not only include Steven Sonderbergh’s Out of Sight and Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13, but also Michael Winterbottom’s Code 46.
David Holmes most recent works include an Apple iPhone advertisement featuring Robert Downey Jr and his fourth solo album, The Holy Pictures.
With more film projects on the way, he is currently working on the score for Five Minutes of Heaven by Oliver Hirschbiegel.
David Holmes has recently been nominated for the 6th annual Irish Film and Television Award in the Original Score Category for his soundtracks to Hunger and Cherrybomb. The awards ceremony takes place in Dublin on 14 February 2009.

Stephen Hilton works as composer, producer and programmer and has a publishing deal at Universal Music. He has worked with stars like Depeche Mode, The Pet Shop Boys, Pulp, Mel C, Natasha Bedingfield and Craig Armstrong.
Among other films, Stephen Hilton has scored three James Bonds (Quantum Of Solace, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day), Moulin Rouge and Kiss Of The Dragon.
Together with David Holmes, he founded The Free Association, which was responsible for the soundtracks of Michael Winterbottom’s Code 46 and Bronwen Hughes’ Stander.
Lately, he co-wrote Drone Zone for the album Mantaray with Siouxsie Sioux, and created the music for the National Movie Awards.
