Rupert Grint & Daniel Mays Talk Mojo on Lorraine!

MojoIcon2December 31st, 2013, 4:54am– Rupert Grint and Daniel Mays appeared together this morning on ITVs Lorraine to talk about Mojo, and it proved to be a delightful interview where their on-stage bromance were visible to see.

They talked about how happy they are about the audience’s positive response to the play, their individual nominations in the WhatsOnStage Awards (VOTE!) as well as their past projects playing Ron Weasley and Ronny Biggs. They were also asked what 2014 had in store for them, but like true actors they dodged the question beautifully and never gave a proper answer.

We hope to have a video of this interview up soon, but until then we have uploaded lots of screenshots in our gallery here.

UPDATE: An online version of the interview has found it’s way to YouTube (thanks to BC TV):

We don’t know yet what Rupert was doing at the ITV studios, but before the pictures emerged, there were a couple of tweets indicating that Rupert might have been doing some promotional work for Mojo. We will just have to wait and see what’s in store for us, but it would be lovely to have some new interviews with Rupert talking about his role as Sweets.

In other Mojo news, you can win tickets to the show and a special Q&A with the cast afterwards on January 13th – read more here.

UPDATE: We know now the reason that Rupert was spotted outside the ITV studios – he will appear on the show Lorraine alongside Daniel Mays to talk about Mojo. They’ll be on the show on December 31st and you can catch it on ITV from 8.30-9.25am. We can’t wait to watch those two talk about Mojo!

Rupert Grint: “Mojo” Press Night Coverage!

MojoIcon3November 13th, 2013, 6:25pm– Rupert Grint and his fellow Mojo costars have just made their curtain call bows for the official Mojo press night. And it sounds like it was a roaring success where they could even enjoy a standing ovation from the audience.

We are slowly starting to get pictures from the afterparty and we will keep updating our gallery here while pictures trickle in.
Rupert has decided to team up with Daniel Mays (our new favourite bromance!) – they are wearing matching t-shirts which are decorated with a funny quote from the play: “Fish are jumping and the cotton is hight”.

UPDATE: BBC News has a new article about the opening night of Mojo and even have comments from almost all the actors about the play. You can read the entire article here, but you can read Rupert‘s comments about his stage debut below:

“It’s great that for my stage debut I’m such a long way from anything I’ve done until now,” Rupert Grint says.

“I’ve been offered stage things before and I always hesitated: I thought I wasn’t ready. I didn’t know Jez’s play at all so it was a big leap of faith – but that also goes for Ian Rickson (the director). But we’ve had the luxury of 19 previews to get it right and it’s been an amazing experience.

But is he finding it hard to work straight through for two-and-a-half hours, after spending his teens in the endless stop-start process of making movies?

“Well that’s what the rehearsals do for you. It’s more intense and deeper than in the cinema. In film you dip in and out, with big distractions in between: you don’t go into much detail. Theatre is exhausting in a way film-making usually isn’t. But it’s also really rewarding.”
