Rupert Grint Talks Butterbeer and Beastie Boys with ICM!

June 24th, 2010, 11:07 pm–What happens when you mix two ICM staffers, and Rupert Grint? Complete and utter randomness! On the final evening of a spectacular week of events surrounding the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, Jo and AJ from rupert-grint.us received a phone call to hook up with Rupert in a lovely patio setting behind the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

Here, Rupert took time out of his evening to sit and chat with ICM!

When we approached the meeting area, Rupert was standing and immediately approached us and greeted us with his winning smile. Rupert had on a black cardigan with a shirt reading the words “Do you feel lucky?” (HELL YEAH!) We all shook hands and “formally” introduced ourselves (as we’ve had several encounters with Rupert at various events.) So here’s a snippet of what we discussed.

Jo: Hey how are you, thanks for chatting with us tonight.

Rupert: Oh yeah no problem.

AJ: So how are you liking Florida?

Rupert: (In an animated voice.) It’s SO HOT!

AJ: Yeah I know.

Rupert: You’re from here?

AJ: No I am from Maryland, but its on the same coast. It’s around
Washington D.C.

Rupert: Oh yeah!

At this point we head over to the patio chairs to chat more with Rupert. The chairs were all wet so he laughed at us as we figured that out. Once seated we chatted more about music, the Harry Potter films and future projects.

Rupert Grint Talks Eddie The Eagle and Wild Target In New Interview!

June 8th, 2010, 12:30pm–In a new interview with WalesOnline Rupert Grint talks about his new comedy film Wild Target and shares with us his gun training and what it was like for him firing at the shooting range,  how much he looks up to his Wild Target co-star Bill Nighy and even desires to work on stage! Once again we get a big mention about Eddie The Eagle and Rupert’s excitement in playing the British skier! Read excerpt:

“I’m quite looking forward to that. He’s a big character and quite funny. It’s still early stages though, it’s not completely final yet,” he says.

“The whole story is inspiring because he’s the classic underdog and he actually did amazing things. He set the British record at the time. He’s just got so much guts.”

Grint, who never thought of acting as a career before Harry Potter changed his life, is open to offers.

“I’d do literally anything. Anything that’s quite different with big characters would be good. Someone dark and insane would be quite cool,” he adds.

He could see himself treading the theatre boards like Harry Potter co-star Daniel, but has some hesitations.

“I’d like to do some stage in the future, definitely, because it seems like you get a lot of satisfaction – probably not naked or singing though,” he says.

“It just seems like a massive step and it’s a different craft because you only get one chance.

“At the moment, I’m just looking at other stuff. I’ll probably take some time off, catch up with friends and have some freedom. Then see what happens and take it as it comes.”

Rupert Grint: I Want To Keep On Acting!

ncm9no

April 23rd, 2010, 1:43 pm–In a new interview with OK! Magazine Rupert Grint discusses his latest film Cherrybomb, the ending of Harry Potter and his desire to continue on as an actor. He also mentions his film Wild Target and the latest project he is attached to “Eddie The Eagle Edwards” a true story based on a Michael Edwards who was the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping and was the British ski jumping record holder.

Excerpt:

What’s happening next in your life?

A few things, I’ve got a film called Wild Target [Rupert plays an assassin’s apprentice]  coming out next month. It was good fun playing with the guns and stuff.

And you’re going to play Eddie the Eagle [British ski-jumping record holder]…can you even ski?

I’ve never skied in my life so it’s going to be interesting. That will be quite fun I think, it’ll be cool.

Did you find it difficult breaking out of your role as Ron Weasley?

I didn’t think about it, Cherrybomb came up quickly, in the space of a week actually, I met the directors and read the script and then was on a flight to Belfast. But yeah, it’s kind of what attracted me to it. It’s a real different kind of character, he’s a bit more complicated and I suppose it was a more ‘adult’ role. I don’t think I was ever nervous about that because as I get older I’ll be doing more grown-up things.

Would you ever quit acting and go to university like Emma Watson?

It’s always going to be an option but I’ll avoid it if I can. I want to keep on acting.

We hear you have an ice cream van, if you were going to impress a girl with an ice cream from your van, what would the topping be?

Hmm, I don’t really have anything in the van at the moment, but probably flake, the classic flake.

Which topping would you say represents you best?

Hundreds and thousands, rainbow.

The Independent Talks To Rupert Grint!

April 15th, 2010, 7:46pm–The Independent has a new interview with Rupert Grint who is currently promoting Cherrybomb. Here he once again talks about life after Potter – he’s definitely ready for it to end! We also get some new tidbits including his family life in which he talks about how close they are, how they travel all around the world with him, and how his father still deals in F1 merchandise!

Rupert also discusses his various movie roles including Cherrybomb and how doing a kissing scene with Harry Potter co-star Jessie Cave was quite different from his scenes with Cherrybomb co-star Kimberley Nixon. He also talks a little about Wild Target and how he tends to be a lot more like Tony then he does Malachy. He also discusses more on Eddie the Eagle including how his father used to chat to him about Eddie and how famous he was for Britain in 1988! Seems like Rupert’s desire to play this role comes from his father’s stories!

We even get to hear, thankfully, that Rupert didn’t get too much teasing about his red hair while in school!

You can read it all here!
