ICM Exclusive Interview with Cherrybomb Directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn!

ICM Exclusive Interview with Cherrybomb Directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn!
April 25th, 2010, 7:38 pm—On the day that Rupert Grint’s latest film Cherrybomb hit UK cinema’s we had the opportunity to interview the film’s directors Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa. What started off as your typical interview turned into nearly an hour of conversation which we have decided to split up into two parts for you. In part 1 of our interview ICM staffer Sam chats with Lisa and Glenn about everything from the films plot to fans questions on the reason behind the tennis balls, Malachy’s deleted vomiting scene and yes more details on the sex scene between Rupert Grint and Kimberley Nixon. So grab yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy this delightful interview with these two wonderful directors. Thanks to Lisa and Glenn for taking out your time to talk with us. You guys deserve much success and we’ll be there to support you along the way!

Excerpt:

ICM: We heard that the love scene between Malachy and Michelle was shot as a continuous 10 minutes. Like, you didn’t stop. And if this is true did Rupert and Kim improvise… like the laughter that was during that scene, or was it in the script? Because it was a little bit of him laughing there.

Lisa: We didn’t shoot it all continuously because, well I mean it’s two different shots. You sort of seeing the way that scene plays out there are two different angles that we used. So, each part of it was actually shot in a very self-contained way, quite short parts.

ICM: Yeah, that was a really sweet scene. Also, Rupert has said that during that scene so didn’t know where to put his hands? Did you guys have to direct him on what to do, or did you just let him figure it out.

Lisa: I don’t think it’s really fair to let actors figure things like that out for themselves. You just look at them and say, “yeah, let’s see what happens.”It’s very tricky, that. We tried to, you know, we knew specifically what shots we wanted and what we knew specifically what shots we wanted and what we wanted to see. So, we were able to just, you know, just sort of direct the actors along those lines.

ICM: Ok. Rumor has it there was a deleted scene in which Malachy had to vomit. Can you tell us more about that, like what was he doing? And were there any deleted scenes that you wish would have made it into the final cut?

Glenn: Yeah, there was a scene. Actually, the first scene that we shot was Malachy, yeah throwing up. But that was just, that was really the night after he had gone out and painted the garage doors.

Read the entire interview via our press site by clicking here. And keep a look out for part two as the directors reveal their feelings on the fan campaign and Rupert as well as their own future plans as directors.

Big thanks to ICM staffers AJ, Sam and Michelle for their great team work and making it all come together so beautifully!

Rupert Grint: I Want To Keep On Acting!
April 23rd, 2010, 1:43 pm–In a new interview with OK! Magazine Rupert Grint discusses his latest film Cherrybomb, the ending of Harry Potter and his desire to continue on as an actor. He also mentions his film Wild Target and the latest project he is attached to “Eddie The Eagle Edwards” a true story based on a Michael Edwards who was the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping and was the British ski jumping record holder.

Excerpt:

What’s happening next in your life?

A few things, I’ve got a film called Wild Target [Rupert plays an assassin’s apprentice]  coming out next month. It was good fun playing with the guns and stuff.

And you’re going to play Eddie the Eagle [British ski-jumping record holder]…can you even ski?

I’ve never skied in my life so it’s going to be interesting. That will be quite fun I think, it’ll be cool.

Did you find it difficult breaking out of your role as Ron Weasley?

I didn’t think about it, Cherrybomb came up quickly, in the space of a week actually, I met the directors and read the script and then was on a flight to Belfast. But yeah, it’s kind of what attracted me to it. It’s a real different kind of character, he’s a bit more complicated and I suppose it was a more ‘adult’ role. I don’t think I was ever nervous about that because as I get older I’ll be doing more grown-up things.

Would you ever quit acting and go to university like Emma Watson?

It’s always going to be an option but I’ll avoid it if I can. I want to keep on acting.

We hear you have an ice cream van, if you were going to impress a girl with an ice cream from your van, what would the topping be?

Hmm, I don’t really have anything in the van at the moment, but probably flake, the classic flake.

Which topping would you say represents you best?

Hundreds and thousands, rainbow.

Rupert Grint Has Revealing New Interview In The Guardian!

Rupert Grint Has Revealing New Interview In The Guardian!April 22nd, 2010, 6:33pm–The whirlwind of interviews with Rupert Grint to promote Cherrybomb continue this time with The Guardian where Rupert has yet another revealing interview. In this one Rupert has new quotes on the sex scene, living at home, more on Harry Potter among other things!

About Cherrybomb sex scene: How did he go about practising that face? “It’s really hard,” he says. “It’s very hard to lose yourself in the moment and just kind of get absorbed by it because there’s always going to be a big fat guy nearby holding a boom.”

About Harry Potter and Alan Rickman: “I remember being quite surprised when they said I was going to get paid for it, so [money] has never really been much of a motive,” he says. “I never really knew who I was working with either – like Alan Rickman, all these huge people who I really respect now. Back then I thought they were just some old people.”
