Rupert will be starring in this film alongside Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy and Hellboy) and former Cherrybomb co-star Robert Sheehan. The film is scheduled start filming in mid-May and until the end of June in Brussels, Belgium.
You can read a synopsis of the film here (we are still unsure if it’s being called Moonwalkers or Moonwalk since both titles are being used around the web):
July 1969. Kidman Tom, a special agent of the CIA, was sent to London to find Stanley Kubrick and convince him to film a fake moon landing in case the Apollo mission would fail. It is not Kubrick, but in its place, Jonny, manager of a seedy rock band. Jonny is the bad dream Kidman. Kidman is the nightmare of Jonny. They have no choice but to work together to accomplish their mission, their lives and develop the biggest scam of all time.
We are still awaiting 100% confirmation from Rupert‘s reps but we hope to get that as soon as possible.
How do you like the sound of this project? Are you excited to see Rupert play Jonny? 😀
UPDATE: We have heard from Rupert’s reps, and he is definitely attached to this project and we will hopefully get the 100% confirmation soon, but they are still sorting out the paperwork at the moment. So fingers crossed everybody!
This is very exciting news and we definitely need to keep our fingers crossed. We have just heard back from Rupert‘s representatives, and although they are not ready to make any confirmation on the news, they do say that he is in talks to star in the play.
The Jez Butterworth play has previously been adapted for the stage as well as the cinema, and although we don’t know yet which character Rupert is being considered for, the play itself sounds very challenging and intriguing:
The drama is set in a lowlife club in Soho in 1958 and focuses on a handsome rock singer with star potential who gets caught up in uncouth goings-on involving a gangster, club owner and band manager.
Fantastic shoot this morning with the beautiful Helen McCory & charming Rupert Grint!
Rupert‘s representatives have told us that this was a charity photoshoot and that we can expect the pictures to be out around October. We can’t wait to see them!
Thanks to Universal Pictures Australia, we are very happy (and excited!) to announce that Rupert’s Cherrybomb will be released on DVD in Australia on 24th November.
While we are still in Australia, a big reminder that Rupert’s comedy, Wild Target will be released nationwide on 11th November. To find your closest cinema, you can go to Hoyts or Event Cinemas for more information.
As Wild Target is a movie for everyone, there is a special Seniors Club Online preview screening on 8th November, so if your grandparents enjoy a good comedy this is the movie for them and there will be refreshments available after the screening.
Stay tuned for something exciting in the next few days!
Rupert’s interview includes talking about Cherrybomb’s petition, Wild Target, what he’d be doing if he wasn’t acting and several other interesting tidbits you may or may not know including Rupert’s favorite actor and what his fault is. The other interview includes fan questions including what he plans to do with his hair, if he’d do an animated film, and what’s it like being a sex symbol.
