The question that we’ve been asking, who is Rupert playing? When we saw who the main characters are, we assumed that he would be playing Antoine, a youth who becomes Victor’s apprentice. Well this article says he is! Let’s hope it’s true, and if so, it’s indeed going to be an interesting part for Rupert to play!
UPDATE 1: PR-Inside has a new article in which they reveal all the information available about Wild Target including a tentative (though not confirmed) release date for the movie as March 2009. We’ll keep you posted!
UPDATE 2: I’ve just examined the French blog that Jo mentioned yesterday and it doesn’t offer much new information. Anyway, the role of Antoine was originally played by Guillaume Depardieu (Gerard Depardieu’s son, aka “The Hot Shirtless Guy”), and according to the article Antoine is a “strikingly awkward” dispatch rider who witnesses one or Victor’s murders and later on becomes his apprentice. And the adjectives used to describe the dialogue between the main characters are: ballistic, rimless, excentric etc. – you get the idea!
UPDATE 3: Suzeeq has found another plot synopsis for the original French movie: “Whilst on an assignment, professional hitman Victor Meynard runs into a delivery boy, Antoine. Unable to kill the adolescent, Meynard adopts him as his accomplice, in spite of Antoine’s evident lack of enthusiasm for his new career. They are hired by a Corsican gangster to kill a con artist Renée Dandrieux for palming off a fake painting. Again, Meynard’s luck is against him, and when he fails to kill Renée, with Antoine’s help, the Corsican gangster sends another hitman to kill all three of them…”
What can we say – Rupert in a quirky dark comedy, our prayers have been answered!
