Rupert Grint: It’s Only A Play Extended Until March 29th 2015!

It'sOnlyAPlayIcon2Rupert Grint: It’s Only A Play Extended Until March 29th 2015!November 6th, 2014, 5:37pm– Tonight, it was announced that It’s Only a Play, with Rupert Grint playing director Frank Finger, will extend its run. Originally, the play was scheduled to close on January 4th 2015 but now the cast and crew have signed on for a short extension – the play will now close on March 29th 2015.

Martin Short will replace Nathan Lane after January 4th but the rest of the cast will continue to reprise their original roles. From January 7th (the first performance with Martin Short) and until January 18th the play will be housed at its current location, the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater, but from January 23 the play will transfer to its new home, the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater.

Although we’ll miss the amazing Nathan Lane, who is just perfect as James Wicker, we can’t wait to see how Rupert will interact with Martin Short – we can only imagine it’ll be absolutely hilarious.

UPDATE: There has been a lot of talk about whether or not Rupert will be a part of the extended run of It’s Only a Play. Rupert’s reps can’t confirm if he will continue in the play just yet, so we all need to cross our fingers that Rupert’s schedule will allow him to stay on until March 29.
But please note that nothing has been confirmed yet – we will of course update when we get official word on this.

Has he been confirmed for the extension? I’m reading rumors that he will leave the play in January! 🙁

I wouldn’t be surprised, he did mojo for 5 months, then made Moonwalkers en went straight into It’s Only a play. He might need some time to recharge.

I prefer him joining the extended run unless it conflicts with the schedule for his next project. If he quit such an important project just for taking some time off he’d definitely be regreted later.

There is a full page ad for Its Only A Play in the N.Y. Times today for the extended run and Rupert’s name is not listed – neither is Megan Mullally’s.

Is F.Murray Abraham’s name on it ? He’s been absent since earlier this month.

F.Murray Abraham is listed. I read somewhere that he took two weeks off.

It would make no sense for them to list Rupert and Megan if they’re still trying to sort out their schedules and contracts.

Personally, I hope Rupert can be a part of the extended run. But it does sound like he has some commitments coming up that’ll make it difficult. Nothing to do but wait and see what happens.
