Rupert Grint Paints An Elephant!

November 9th, 2011, 10:26pm–I know what you’re thinking; how strange is this? But Rupert Grint is painting an elephant for a good cause. Rupert, along with several other celebrities, are painting elephants to support the Asian Elephant Foundation and proceeds will go to the said foundation as well as the Wildlife Reserves Singapore. The funds will pay for elephant hospitals and land for elephants to roam in the wild. There will be a total of 162 elephants being painted and will be displayed in Singapore for the Elephant Parade which is calling itself “largest open-air art exhibition solely dedicated to saving the Asian elephant.”

Unfortunately no word yet on what Rupert’s elephant looks like. But you can read all about this here which better explains everything.

UPDATE: We DO have a picture of Rupert’s elephant now, along with a quote from Rupert of what inspired him:

My inspiration comes from the human heart with its intricate veins and arteries, intertwined with faces depicting various expressions of human emotions.

    I just saw it, it has a lot of faces as usual, it actually looks pretty cool. And he said about it:

    It looks like painting faces is his thing :P There’s something very special about this elephant. Did he paint it by hand or did he use a computer program, as well?? It looks kind of digital XD Especially because of the reflection of the elephant on the floor. There’s also a 3D effect because of the shadows. Very interesting picture indeed!! :D

    OK, I know now why it looks 3D. It’s because it *is* 3D XD I thought it was a regular painting and I’ve just realized that it’s a painted statue XD Silly me, lol.

    This looks a bit like the butterfly he painted for one of the charities he had helped. Rupert’s really talented and generous as well.

    This is very cool and very artistic. I don’t find it odd at all to paint an elephant statue. I remember back in 2000 for the Expo in Hannover, various artists painted cows.

    Yeah, the cow parade!! :D They did it in my city as well and it was real fun. There were dozens of cows all scattered around the city :P

    We have horses here. The way I was told to find the woman’s cancer center to get a mamogram was “go straight until you see the pink horse..” I love the elelphant. btw At the other art piece why did I not notice that he drew the inside of the eye reflecting in the pupil the test screen? Now that is clever!
