As always we have composed a new years post talking about the highlights of 2010 and what we can look forward to in 2011. Please be safe everyone and click on the link to read the rest!
In 2009 we dubbed it “The Year of the Grint” because we assumed three Rupert movies would hit theaters that year. Unfortunately due to many details only Half-Blood Prince ending up hitting the theaters that year. So when 2010 hit we renamed it “The Year of the Grint Reloaded” and it was! After a long campaign Cherrybomb hit theaters in the UK and Germany. While other countries are still being worked on, it was a real treat for fans to finally see the fruits of their labor pay off in some way.
Some months later Rupert’s second movie, Wild Target, began hitting the bit screen starting off in the UK and finally ending up in the US by late 2010. And while the movie didn’t become a huge blockbuster, it still was fairly successful making an estimated 3 million dollars.
Finally the first half of Deathly Hallows hit in November opening up to it’s biggest weekend gross ever domestically for the franchise and becoming just as big in the rest of the world. Rupert’s performance was hailed by critics for not only being the comic relief but showing off acting chops as Ron that many of them were not privy to see in Cherrybomb.
Rupert had a busy 2010 outside of the world of filming taking part in many photoshoots this year. While mainly in very artsy magazines such as Fault magazine and Disorder, Rupert was also featured in The Guardian and Nylon magazine as the hot young Holllywood of 2010.
Charity was a big thing for Rupert as well. After filming Deathly Hallows, Rupert and his on-screen brothers, James and Oliver Phelps, participated in Barmy to Barcelona Wacky Rally where they traveled from the Swiss Alps to the Spanish Catalan capital. Rupert also participated in Keech charity where he drew a butterfly that was auctioned off on Ebay to help Keech hospice center.
Rupert isn’t the only one who had an amazing year in 2010 as ICM had a spectacular year this year. We had the chance to interview many people connected with Rupert’s films including Jonathan Lynn, director of Wild Target as well as Michael Price, the soundtrack composure of Wild Target. We also had amazing opportunities to talk to Rupert this year. ICM was given the opportunity to be at the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and an exclusive chance to interview him at the park itself! ICM was once against present on the red carpet events for Deathly Hallows – both in London and New York. We also attended many Cherrybomb events included an exclusive meet & greet session for Cherrybomb’s DVD release in the UK.
So what will 2011 bring us? Many great things! The second half of Deathly Hallows is slated for a July release, this time being in 3D. In early January Rupert’s cameo on “Come Fly With Me” will air in the UK. While there is no official word because Rupert is still clearly attached, he may start filming Eddie The Eagle in 2011.
ICM will also be doing many things because as always we’ll be present for Deathly Hallows: Part 2 red carpet events. Hopefully many more interviews to conduct and lots of Rupert news to post!
