Gala: Rupert Grint Interview With The Slate!
August 3rd, 2009, 2:41pm–During promotion for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Rupert Grint along with his co-star Daniel Radcliffe were both interviewed by Amanda Fennelly with movie blog site The Slate. Amanda describes Rupert unassuming and slightly shy. She also notes that he seemed a bit less animated and somewhat more tired than the others but was still happy to talk about his kissing scene, filming Quidditch, and his now famous ice-cream truck. Judging by the shirt he’s wearing, the interview must have taken place on 6th July, i.e. when they were doing the press conference and junket interviews. No wonder they were tired. Plus at that point Rupert had only just recovered from illness, it’s likely that he still had a bit of a sore throat or something.

It’s interesting, when they did the first Harry Potter movie Rupert and Dan were approximately the same height, although Dan was a year younger. But nowadays Rupert is about 4 inches taller than Dan. Looks like Dan stopped growing back in 2005.

The thing is that Rupert is at a pretty good height. He’s average. Whoever said 5’9/5’10” is short is crazy. It’s just that he’s surrounded by friggin giants (coughJamesOliverPhelpscough). It also doesn’t help that the whole movie business makes a specific look desirable and “normal.” Hmph. I think he looks great. People can hate on his naturally muscular physique. *snap in Z formation*

Actually Rupert is about 5’8″ max. But yeah, James and Oliver are really tall, about 6’3″. The only other HP actor who’s as tall as them is David Thewliss. (if we disregard those who only popped up in one HP movie, like that Igor Karkaroff dude — he’s like 6’5″).

These damned height questions are driving me crazy! I am begging someone to measure that man!!! I’ve never seen him in person, but I think he’s 5’9. He’s no taller than that, but no shorter than 5’8. Maybe his width (shoulders) make him appear shorter. That’s still not short, though. Height, eye color and cologne. Please Rupert, set us straight!

Isn’t Devon (Seamus) 5’3? I’m 5’3 and Devon looks like he comes up to Rupert in HBP about what I would. I measured out 5’8 and 5’9 on my door in comparison to me and that looks about right.

Well I’ve seen them all in person, I was actually standing no more than five inches away from Rupert and we were almost the same… I’m just under 5’9 (175 cm) and he’s less than an inch shorter than me, so 5’8 is a fair estimate I’d say.
Daniel is no more than 5’4… apart from being short, he’s also tiny, you know, the opposite of brawny… I guess his shirt size is S, while Rupert’s shirt size must be L.
Tom Felton is about as tall as me, so he’s not even a full 5’9 — but he looks taller in the pics because he’s so skinny. I guess he weights less than me, and I’m not exactly fat.
Devon Murray is only 5’2. But he’s cute, in an “awww, little lad” kind of way.
On the other hand, Jason Isaacs is taller than I expected (and super hot!), and Jim Broadbent is almost 6’2.
