July 2, 2009 at 6:55 pm–In a new interview with Moviefone, Rupert Grint discusses Ron’s characterization, the love triangle, quidditch and even Harry and Ginny in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. He tells us that Ron has become sort of full of himself in this film.

“We see a cocky and arrogant side to Ron on this one,”

”He’s on the Quidditch team [as starting goalkeeper], he’s got a girlfriend, and he thinks he’s quite cool.” On the flipside, “at times he can be a bit cocky and he annoys Hermione quite a bit.”

Rupert also dishes on Quidditch, Ron’s relationships, and his little sister’s budding romance.

“I have to say it was bit of an anticlimax,” says Grint. “I really sort of built it up and thought it would be great fun even though [Daniel Radcliffe] said it was painful. He was definitely right. It’s not the nicest experience.”

Rupert chiming in on Ron and Hermione:

“All the stuff with Lavender makes her go a bit crazy.”

Rupert on Harry and Ginny:

“The whole thing with Harry and Ginny is quite confusing for Ron, because he’s quite protective,”

You can read more (did you know they were planning a kiss between Ron and Hermione in this movie?), including interviews with David Yates, Emma Watson, Jessie Cave, Tom Felton, and Daniel Radcliffe here.

  1. Can’t wait to see overprotective big brother Rupert :)

  2. I remember them revealing that a kiss was already planned in HBP a long time ago.

Makes me think though, Do you think it’s possible that the kiss in the movies will take place earlier than in the book? Like that it already happens in the first part?

And god they should really add a blooper reel on the DVD. We also hear about it but never get to see it!

  3. I don’t think they’d put the kiss in earlier. No. I don’t even want to think about that.

  4. *izofftobednow*

    Sweet dreams, everyone!

  5. i know we have to wait long time for ron and Hermione ‘s kiss but it’s not all bad i mean there will many amazing moments between them in deathly hallows

  6. Since there’s a new topic and I just read the FHM article, I just wanted to post here that I LOVE it. To me, it was slightly humorous and very honest. An adult article. I don’t take the crush thing all that seriously. They’re guys and Emma’s a pretty girl. It’s not a huge deal. I think it’s funny he remembers Prince Philip cursing because I’ve heard that about him before. I think FHM hit it on the head that right now, Rupert’s got a “coolness” factor to him that Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t. That can change, but looking at it from a entertainment analytical pov, right now it’s true. Wish Wild Target had been mentioned. I really want to know a lot more about that movie.

  7. Interviews galore and new things each time. This is such a great time to be a Rupert fan. I believe the interview had Yates saying or at least it was suggested that THE KISS will be featured in part two of DH. As said to keep up the tension. The kiss before in HBP was to be the one in OOTP right? Where she kisses his cheek before the game????

  8. I think the R/Hr kiss in DH will be in part 2. That’s a lot of waiting, isnt? :(
I wish it could be in part 1 but i dont want the kiss story to change!

I wanna see HBP like now!
    g’Night Karo ;)

  9. No talley, it was an actual real kiss they had planned.

  10. Yeah, it was in one of the script drafts before DH was released and Yates decided to take it out. It shows you though, that Yates saw that chemistry between them and wanted to see it too. hehehehe

  11. Rupert and Dan… make me proud! :D

  12. i cant to see that kiss!!! only like..2 years to go lmao! ;)

  13. *I cant wait

  14. hey are u gauys making the calender!!??

  15. stupid typos!!

  16. WB would have been Roasted by the fans if they had put the kissing R/H bit in a movie early. The whole point is that its last minute.

What moron is working over at WB >/

  17. HPLOVER the calender is made, it’s in the forum.

  18. They should have had the cheek kiss, I WANTED the cheek kiss.

    *sounds like the Chi-Chi’s robot*

    I.want.the.cheek.kiss.
    I.WANT.THE.CHEEK.KISS!

  19. You all need to quit blaming WB. lol It’s not their decision. It’s the producers and the director’s decision and when the final book came out, Yates decided to take it out. I guess they all thought it wouldn’t ever come to be or maybe didn’t expect JKR to write such an enthusiatic kiss between the two. Either way, it’s not in HBP. ;)

  20. I remember reading that they had planned this kiss in HBP, but I’m glad they didn’t include it. And I hope they just stick to the book and do the R/Hr kiss exactly like J.K. wrote it. I love R/Hr and I want to see the kiss but they just have to stick with the books and that’s it. I hate it when they change things around, I mean cutting things for lack of time I understand but certain things, like the kiss, I don’t want them to change around ’cause there’s 99% chances they’ll just screw up. There’s a reason we’re fans of the books, so follow them! I really really hope they don’t mess it.
And I hate that they never give us any bloopers, you get bloopers from every sibgle movie and tv show, but not from HP, why?

  21. Submitted a bit of news! :)

  22. I’m gonna be watching Emma on Jonathan Ross tonight.

  23. She said she pounced on Rupert for the kiss becasue she desperately wanted it to be over…

  24. No comment, until I’ve seen the entire interview.

  25. Okay Ivana. When you see it, stop by the R/E thread to give us some news… :)

  26. There’s a lot of online buzz about Rupert’s FHM confession!!
It has just been posted on perezhilton too!

  27. I LOL’ed at the Perez thing. But I wish he would have done the article more different.

  28. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/harry-potter/5732494/Emma-Watson-pounced-on-Rupert-Grint-for-Harry-Potter-kiss.html

this is new, at least for me:)

  29. Totally agree KC, but Perez will never be known for his HQ articles he’s all about the LOLZ!

  30. yay! calender!!

  31. i read elsewhere that dan was not happy with the fact that the movie was more of a romantic comedy. im glad he acknowledges that hbp lacks the darkness that it should have. its too bad he isnt in a position to do anything about it, he has to do what the director says (I could kill Yates for this).
rupert seems like a very funny guy, im looking forward to seeing the ron, hermione and lavender love triangle.

  32. Read a great new romantic comedy following the fortunes of Paul Marriott, the Secretary of the Barnstorm Village Sunday soccer team, and coach of a school cricket team in Yorkshire, England. The story describes the remarkable camaraderie between the players and supporters of this little club and their desire to achieve success. Nonetheless, the team is known more for its antics off the field, rather than their performances on it.

During his time at the club he meets and becomes involved with Emma Potter, who is the sister of James Potter, a major player for their bitter rivals Moortown Inn. Thus, begins an entangled web of romance and conflict. He also begins working at Derry High School, a school with a poor reputation of academic success, where he becomes coach of the school cricket team. Here he develops an amazing relationship with the children and embarks on an epic journey.
