Gala: Jessie Cave Spills About Ron And Rupert Grint In New LA Times Interview!
June 23, 2009, 1:06 pm–Rupert Grint’s Harry Potter co-star Jessie Cave chats with the LA Times in a new interview about her experience working on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and the onscreen romance of Ron and Lavender . Jessie says that her character is dominating of Ron and almost the catalyst in setting up Hermione and Ron in the final chapter of the saga. She also has many great things to say about Rupert, (no surprise I know!) and reveals that she became really good friends with him during filming.
He was very easygoing and very laid-back. He didn’t at all have any kind of ego, he was just a nice guy and very normal. It was easy to become friends with him, which I didn’t expect to be honest.
And let’s not forget the biscuit! (In response to what she did for her final audition)
I thought, ‘I’m just going to go for it.’ And I think Rupert was a bit scared, really. The biscuits were past the sofa, away from me so I kind of just tangled myself around Rupert and just made it really obvious that I didn’t really care about the biscuits. I just wanted to be near him. I think he was quite scared.

I don’t understand this. LOL Was the thing with the biscuits a part of a Ron/Lavender scene or was that Jessie hitting on Rupert?

Galadriel I dont understand either. Mabe Rupert was there as Ron.. like.. she needs to improvise a scene with Ron and biscuits. Or if she suddenly think “ok im gonna think thats Ron and I want him” and then actioooon. And maybe Rupert got scared cuz it was so unexpected. haha who knows but it sounded sexy. haha

Sabine I think it was just some warm ups, and like she said more part of the audition. They were trying to get these two comfortable with each other and get them ready for the Ron/Lav scenes and this did it! Jessie was brilliant doing that and boy would I have killed to see Rupert’s surprised look when she tangled herself around him. My God this girl ROCKS!
EDIT: I added on the news post that it was for the audition so people don’t think she is just randomly attacking Rupert. But hey that would be hot!

How did it feel playing someone who everyone will know doesn’t stand a chance?
Well, she does really! She does quite well. She does go out with him and does get her claws into him for awhile. Not claws — she’s lovely. She does get her way for a tiny bit, but unfortunately, it doesn’t end up her way.
My thoughts exactly: It’s not like she admired him from afar. She got her a fistfull of Weasley……. and then some.

Hiya guys, I think it’s just part of getting to know the characters. I go to drama school and we have to do stuff like this all the time. David Yates probably said to Jessie act like your the character of Lavender, so she more than likely thought that there’s these yummy biscuits in the background and then you’ve got the character of Ron sitting there, so improvise on what she would do, which was to either to go for the biscuits lol or literally lunge herself at Ron, which is probably why Rupert got a little embarassed and scared, I would lol. There’s loads ways that Jessie could of gone with it, but I’m just picking one at random. I love this site btw, I’ve been on it a few times but never thought to leave a comment

Two of my favorite lines. This girl is really cool. She has a great personality. I find myself saying “bless him” about Rupert alot lately. I guess he inspires that in people. Bless him. LOL!
I’m still confused about the biscuits. I just don’t get what the hell they had to do with Rupert/Ron sitting there. And as much as I love sweets, I’m picking Rupert!

Ok –flipside: How many of those “Throw the shark into the tank” improvizations sessions did Rupert have to go through?!!? Hee hee, and HE was afraid he would have to kiss strangers in
the final auditions. No wonder she got the part –15 minutes of scriptless character imporv. Good woman

Do you know if Rupert was supposed to play Ron in the audition or did he just have to be himself?? I was wondering that because depending on the stage of the R/L relationship, Ron’s reaction to Lavender’s ministrations must have been different. It’s not the same at first, when Ron plays along with Lavender, than some time later, when he’s clearly fed up with her.

I love this girl! She seems so open and just so perfect for Lav-Lav. I’m so glad that her and Rupert seem to get along well and have chemistry. Jupert 4eva baby!!
