2u4ojmxJune 21, 2009, 1:34am–Warner Bros. has begun releasing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince interviews and the first part of the interviews deals with love in the air. In this Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Jessie Cave, Daniel Radcliffe, Bonnie Wright, David Yates and many others from the crew talk about the relationship between Ron and Hermione, Ron and Lavender, Harry and Ginny and the respective triangles.

“Rupert is such a natural comedian,” Yates affirms. “He was always coming up with surprising little things that made us all laugh. So it was a real thrill to direct him in the comedy scenes, which is something I didn’t really have an opportunity to do on ‘Order of the Phoenix.’”

The second part of course deals with quidditch and a surprising way David Yates dealt with Rupert and quidditch?

Second unit director Stephen Woolfenden reveals, “One thing David Yates really wanted to do was get Rupert up there on a rig and catch him off guard, so we filmed him from a variety of angles where we would just fire 20 Quaffles at a time at him. The real responses to everything flying at him at once made for some very funny viewing and the improvised nature of it also made it easier for him to look as though he is not as in control.”

  1. I think I love David Yates. Like a lot.

  2. They are praising him like mad and I love that but at the same time it sounds like they are only just discovering how amazing he is. It is sorta bittersweet. It annoys me. They should have given him all of these opportunities in the last few movies. Sorry to rain on the parade.

  3. I feel that way too.

  4. Just came home!!
Lovely interview!! Rupert really owns this movie!!

I understand what you said Jo, they have lost a lot of time to really give Rupert the opportunity to show how talented he is. Fortunately he has more projects on his way.

    :)

  5. “They were just laying out for the taking, and Ron does enjoy his sweets,” Grint teases.

Shit, I wanna lay out for the taking!

Oops, there goes my filthy mind again!

  6. so true about david yates love him too! :)

  7. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I hate that they act like this… but I give David Yates the benefit here because he only did OotP and that didn’t give much for Rupert to do. The rest of them though… :P

  8. and its cool that rupe’s a judge!

  9. Heh. In my admiration for Yates I forgot to say… I love the quidditch tidbit! A lesser actor might not be able to adapt to this type of improvising. Our Rupert rocks! :)

  10. Well yeah now I mean they are trying to fit everything all in at once. I love it but they are sorta trying to make up for it and I am not buying it. I don’t change my opinion about them no matter how much they give Ron. Happy for Rupert and Ron YES, BUT still disappointed in the powers that be. Giving Emma a lot to do will only give a lot of eye candy but to entertain the masses you need Rupert. Finally they focking get it. dummies.

  11. David Barron: “…Ron, who has fallen head-over-heels for Lavender Brown…”

    Totally wrong!

  12. Love the attention Ron/Rupert gets! :) It may be late, but still… :)

  13. “David Barron: “…Ron, who has fallen head-over-heels for Lavender Brown…”

    Totally wrong!”

    RIGHT?! That’s what I said. UGHHH!!! >:(

  14. There’s a few things in the articles that I’m not enjoying:
“David Barron: “…Ron, who has fallen head-over-heels for Lavender Brown
“Ron is understandably intimidated by him because Cormac is in a physical class that Ron will never be,” says Heyman. “But with some help from his friends, Ron puts Cormac in his place.”
They may not seem to be a natural couple in many ways, because she is so bright and organized and serious and he appears to be none of those things. But there is something else going on that draws them together.”
I think they still don’t get Ron’s character, they’re still portraying him wrongly, in some ways, but I’m happy at least they are now recognizing Rupert’s talent (better late then never?) and giving ron more screentime, and I’ll try to just enjoy the movie and Rupert’s amazing performance. But movie!Ron is still not book!Ron and maybe unfortunetly will never be. Thank god for Rupert

  15. WickedJo,

Same here but hey I keep saying that we’re fucking blessed to have someone as talented as Rupert to portray movie!Ron.

  16. WickedJo,
I’m with you :) Nothing else to say. Hell yeah, we’re blessed to have Rupert play Ron

  17. Rupert’s new nickname: 20 Quaffle Grint! :D I agree, they got a few things wrong. Ron was never in love with Lavender, let alone head-over-heels and he is definitely in the same physical class as McClaggen. Look at his body, for God’s sake! I just try not to dwell on the mistakes and enjoy the long overdue Rupert lovefest that’s finally going on. I cannot wait for HBP!!!

  18. I agree with you all, they don’t portray Ron’s character right :x I can’t believe how JK Rowling let this happen.

Lol at Yates’s way to get Rupert surprised XD We know now how they took this pic!!
