David Yates Praises Rupert Grint!

David Yates, who directed the latest two films in the Harry Potter franchise (“Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix” and “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince”) and is currently shooting “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I” has been interviewed by Baltimore Sun. He discussed his approach to these movies, working with Jim Broadbent, and of course the leading trio. Unsurprisingly, Yates had nothing but words of praise for Rupert Grint: “He’s always been the funny one, but he has so much more as an actor than that. In Prince, he has lovely stuff that’s funny and true, but in Deathly Hallows, he must be defensive and haunted, and Rupert took to that like a duck to water. I’m always thankful that Jo Rowling gave us a world that allowed us to turn corners with the actors.” Continue reading

Rupert Grint Tidbits: Daniel Radcliffe’s Favourite Scene And Sunday Times Rich List!

Rupert Grint’s co-star Daniel Radcliffe aka Harry Potter has been interviewed by Wizard Universe, and when asked about his favourite scene from the latest film “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince” he said: “My favorite scene in the film, actually, is one that I’m that not in, which is probably not that surprising because I hate watching myself. It’s with Rupert (Ron) in Quidditch practice, and it is genuine laugh-out-loud funny. And I don’t laugh out loud that easily.” Emma Watson also praised Rupert: “What really stuck out for me [in Half-Blood Prince] was Ron’s Quidditch scene. It was so funny. Rupert’s comic timing is just brilliant and he’s so funny. There’s this great scene where Hermione and Lavender are fighting over Ron, and we had a bit of fun with that.” We should also let you know that Rupert has made it onto The Sunday Times yearly list of the 100 richest young people, aged 30 and under. Rupert Grint: Moviefone’s Fun Facts From Harry Potter Set And Matthew Lewis Interview!

We have several Rupert Grint tidbits to share with you this morning. Soph has transcribed what Matthew Lewis has said about Rupert Grint in the questions and answers session at Collectormania Midlands, so you may now read the interview here. Also, Kevin Polowy with the Moviefone’s Inside Movies blog has visited the set of “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince”, and he had some funny facts to share. 2. It takes “about 10 takes” for the perfect kiss. Or at least that’s how many takes Rupert Grint estimates were shot for the first of a few smooches between Ron and Lavender (Jessie Cave). “Quite embarrassing” is how the reserved Grint describes the scene’s filming. “We were both quite nervous and director David Yates was really good and only let it go on for about 10 takes.” Only? To make matters worse, Grint and and Lavender were performing for a live audience. “I had a room full of people cheering,” Grint says. Well, he must be doing something right. Continue reading

Matthew Lewis, Daniel Radcliffe And David Heyman Talk Rupert Grint!

Several websites have posted videos of Rupert Grint’s adorable co-star Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom in HP films), who attended the Collectormania Midlands last Sunday. Among other things, he talked about working with Rupert, and his infamous corpsing on HP set, especially during some decidedly unfunny scenes. You can watch the videos here and here on Youtube: the Rupert bit is in the end of the first and the beginning of the second clip. Matt Lewis jokingly concludes: “Never work with children, animals and Rupert Grint!” (By the way, Matt also mentions the “fistful of Weasley” anecdote that he first told as a response to my question in this online interview. Also, TLC has posted a report from the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, where Matthew Lewis discussed “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince” and pointed out that “although Half-Blood Prince has a horrible ending it is quite a funny movie, thanks mostly to Rupert Grint’s Qudditch and love-struck scenes.” Finally, in a recent interview with the Empire magazine, Daniel Radcliffe and David Heyman have mentioned Rupert in regards to how similar the main HP actors are to their characters. Dan says: “Rupert’s quite quiet sometimes so I don’t know that he’s like Ron in that way.” David Heyman adds: “Rupert’s very close to his family, like Ron.” Continue reading
