Good Luck Rupert!

Good Luck Rupert!

February 6, 2009, 5:55 AM–Can you guys believe that Rupert Grint‘s movie Cherrybomb will have its world premiere in two days?! ICM staffers Jo and Karo and our resident sidekick AJ are already busy packing their suitcases for Berlin, and we suppose the Grints are getting ready for the Berlin premiere too! Thus, it is only appropriate to wish Rupert good luck before his big day! So, here we go:

Dear Rupert,

You can’t imagine the excitement we felt for you when we first heard that you were filming Cherrybomb. Once we got a hold of some more information, we all made quick work of researching your directors, co-stars, and other aspects of the production. We were pleased to see you had chosen such a talented group of people to tackle a project very outside of your comfort zone. We’ve all researched Glen and Lisa’s work, and we believe that their joint gifts, coupled with a unique story and visually dynamic sets will work well to further your career in a positive way.

You said a while ago that you were worried that your role in Cherrybomb might upset some of your fans. Don’t worry! If anything, you’ve made us hungry for more! We’ve been spending countless moments discussing the movie and posting theories about the plot! We’ve been trying to whittle away the sort of character Malachy is this entire time. And of course, there’s the debate about who is dying at the end… To sum up, we are so excited for this film!

We’re even more excited for you. When we heard Cherrybomb was premiering at Berlinale, one of the largest festivals in the world, we were very proud. The fact that this film managed to beat out many competitors to be screened there only cemented our anticipation. We here at ICM are very glad you are taking risks and branching out with your acting. We know you’ll have a long career, and look forward to enjoying this step along the way with you!

Good luck on your big night, Rupert!

ICM readers and staff

Thanks to our lovely Sam who wrote the letter! And feel free to leave your own messages for Rupert in the comments!

February 6th, 2009 at 4:31 PM

Hey Rupert!
Congratulations on Cherrybomb! It sounds like a fantastic movie! (I heard it’s up for the Crystal Bear Award at Berlinale. That’s wonderful! I hope it gets it.) I can’t wait to see it! I must say that I’m very proud, excited, happy for you. I don’t have much else to add to what has already been said by the others here at ICM except that I really admire you for taking part in this film in particular because it sounds like it has an important lesson about the dangers of drugs and negative peer pressure (Does that sound too teacher-y? Lol! Sorry. I’m a teacher’s daughter. So, I guess stuff like that has kind of rubbed off on me! Hehe!) I know this will have quite an effect on many people because there are so many that look up to you. You may not realize it, but through this film you’re reaching out to so many and teaching them that their actions (especially actions like using drugs) have consequences that can effect them for the rest of their life. If that doesn’t say role model, then I don’t know what does! You’re definately one of my biggest. I’ve admired you so much in everything you’ve accomplished and all that you’ve done for others over the years.

I also want to congratulate you on your other two films that are coming out this year as well. Wild Target sounds awesome and, of course, me being an extreme Harry Potter fan I know that Half-Blood Prince will be brilliant, as well! You’re a very talented actor (it’s because of you that Ron Weasley is my favorite HP character! LOL!) and I know that these movies are just the beginning of a bright future and a long, prestigiuos acting career you have ahead of you.

Have a great time in Berlin!

Morgan (aka Cookimonstress)

February 6th, 2009 at 4:32 PM

I have no doubt in Cherry Bomb’s success, we’ve all been on hype over the past couple of weeks with all the photo’s that have been released. :) Can’t wait to see it! …it just took me 10 minutes to type that out, I couldn’t think for the life of me what to say, haha x)

Anyway, have fun at Berlinale! Enjoy it! :)

Kudos to all those who worked on Cherry bomb, they’ve done an amazing job too.

And thanks to ICM for bringing us all the news!

February 6th, 2009 at 6:43 PM

I enjoyed Driving Lessons, and I was hoping to catch Rupert some time in another very different role. I’m hoping Cherrybomb and Wild Target hit my area (Arizona, USA), because I’d be happy to take a friend or two and go see them.

I think Rupert has a lot of talent, and I think it’s interesting to see actors who’s work I’ve enjoyed in different roles.

Good luck.

PS: I wouldn’t mind it if a little of England’s snow came this way. :)

February 6th, 2009 at 6:53 PM

Hi, Rupert! You don’t know me, obviously, yet you are honestly one of my favorite people in the world! It seems so weird you have no idea who we are when we care about you and your success more than you can imagine! I’ve been one of your biggest fans since 2001 when I first saw you onscreen (it didn’t hurt that you were playing my favorite fictional character of all time). Anyway, I know there’s nothing I can say to you that you haven’t heard a million and a half times before (and you probably won’t read all these anyway), so I’ll just say that I know you have the potential to be a truly great and lasting actor if you choose to be. We all believe in you and want the absolute best for you. I hope that Cherrybomb is just one of many, many good roles we will see you in. Once Harry Potter is over, we are counting on you to keep our passion for it alive through you as you go on to have what I hope will be a wonderful career! But, you know, if you choose to just be an ice cream man or whatever else, then you will still be the best one the world has ever seen. 😉 We love you so much! Go get ’em, tiger! *ends creepy geek rant*

February 6th, 2009 at 6:54 PM

I just cant avoid to repeat the same all of us have said[*], but this word sums up all my happiness and expectations to see another brilliant perfomance from you. You´re taking your outstanding acting skill to another level that any person that knows you could be proud of.
Like the movie quotes itself, it´s the cherry that will explode the bomb

Mr. Grint, it is a complete honor to have the opportunity to send this message to you. Firstly, I’d like to congratulate you on your new film Cherrybomb which I’m sure will be a great success. I just know that you’ll set the screen on fire. Secondly, it has been a wonderful experience watching you evolve from this little boy wizard into this extremely talented, gorgeous young man. I definately don’t see you as Ronald Weasley anymore, but as Rupert Grint, an accomplished young actor who I know will take over the world. Berlin,Germany won’t know what hit em’ (lol). Thirdly, I’d like to say that I am a dedicated fan who fell in love with you from your first Harry Potter film and will continue to support you. I wish you all the best and lots of success in all your endeavours. I love you and may God continue to richly bless you. I am your number one fan here in The Bahamas and hopefully you’ll give this place a visit and one day I’ll get to meet you. I love you. God bless you.

It is the coolest thing to for a actor to get such praise and accolades for the success that this movie will obviously generate. Having the additional benefits of being a great actor with name recognition more people will see this film as a result. I also think it wonderful all the attention Rupert has been getting from all his fans because it is so well deserve.
