January 22, 2009, 5:23 AM–A new synopsis for Rupert Grint‘s eagerly awaited film Cherrybomb has just emerged online! Junge Journalisten (The Young Journalists, who will be reviewing the films competing in the Generation category at the Berlin Film Festival) have just updated their Cherrybomb page with a new synopsis, giving us a bit more insight into the characters’ actions and motivations. It seems to me that, after brilliantly portraying Ben Marshall in Driving Lessons, Rupert plays another teenager who has an overbearing mother! What do you think:
It’s gotta be wild to be good. The final exams are over and Malachy and Luke hang out at the leisureplex with their friends. Something needs to happen this summer – no matter what. Enter Michelle: In ankle boots and babydoll dress she struts fresh out of London and into their lives. The bomb has been lit. Who gets the girl? Or, who gets her first? Pills are downed, lines snorted and cars dented. The main thing is – not to stay home. It’s unbearable there, no matter whether it’s mother, patting her Malachy on the head, or Luke having to wake his dad from a drunken stupor. Grounded? Just let them try it! The text messages leading to the next party is about to arrive for sure. How much can this boys’ friendship take before the bomb goes off?
Oh, and as you might have noticed, the venue for Cherrybomb screening on Monday 9 February has been changed. Instead of Colosseum 1, the movie will be shown at Cinema X3 — Potsdamer Platz at 16:30 CET (4:30 PM).
UPDATE: Additionally, it has just been announced that Cherrybomb is also up for the Best First Feature Award at the Berlinale! For further information on this prize, click here.
Thanks to Hunter!

I’m f***ing excited to see Rupert as a wild party animal. He’s a very calm person in real life, it’s gonna be awesome.
“Who gets the girl? Or who gets her first?” DANG!!! That made me chuckle a bit. Kim is going to have to ‘work it’ in this movie! Trailer!!!!
Well.. we know Malachy does get the girl at some point *wink wink
What about Luke though…?
Oh silly me, let me edit this. You could tell I was posting this in a bit of a hurry.

That’s why poor Maly looks so bored in all domestic photos.
