Wild Target Filming Begins!

Empire Online has just published an article about Wild Target, confirming that 16 September indeed is/was the first day of filming. Although the article focuses on Bill Nighy, Rupert is also mentioned:

Nighy’s renowned hitman, Victor Maynard, finds himself reluctantly saddled with two sidekicks – Emily Blunt, as a target he didn’t have the heart to kill, and Rupert Grint as a young man who chooses Victor as his mentor, in the mistaken belief that he’s a private detective.

According to Empire, some more prominent British thesps have been attached to the project, including Rupert Everett (Yay!!!), Eileen Atkins, Martin Freeman and Gregor Fisher.

Oh, and the filming is expected to continue for the next six WEEKS (instead of six months, as previously rumoured)! Now, this makes sense. :)

    Rupert Everett, squeeeeeee!!! He’s absolutely insane! Anyone read his semi-autobiography? :D
    I bet the two Ruperts are going to get along spectacularly!

    Heh. Ivana, you read my mind. Better as a new post rather than update. I like this, as I said in the other there is a lot of amazing talent in that cast which speaks rather highly of Rupert. I *love* Martin Freeman. I’ve seen Eileen Atkins in things, but didn’t know who she was. I need to watch Love Actually again to see Gregor Fisher. And I’ve only seen Rupert Everett in Shrek. So how does that work? hah! I swear, I’m going to have to rent some movies to see all this wonderful talent.

    Also, that takes us to the end of October. Plenty of time to fit in another project! And also this gives the movie plenty of time for that rumored March release date, too.

    Rupert Everett is a good actor, last movie I seen him in was My Best Friends Wedding (with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz). Of course, Martin Freeman (The Office, UK version, AliG in Dahouse and other movies), he’s fantastic. You know most of these actors have a dry sense of humor about them. They don’t try to be funny, they are funny.

    I’m expecting to receive my DVD of Rupert E’s latest movie St. Trinians tomorrow. Rupert plays two characters, one of them being the school headmistress!!! Imagine a 6’3″ guy playing an elderly lady!
    Tao let me introduce you to RE’s essentials:
    1) My Best Friend’s Wedding – absolutely hilarious, and he manages to outshine the likes of Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz!
    2) Stardust – my hubby loves this movie, I don’t, but Rupert is good as ever
    3) St. Trinians, if it gets released in the US
    4) The Next Best Thing – a crappy movie (starring Madonna of all people!), but Rupert almost saves the day
    5) A Midsummer’s Night Dream – he plays Oberon! Again not the best movie of all times, but he shines.
    Also, he did not just lend his voice to Prince Charming in Shrek, he was also The Fox in Narnia 1.

    One other good movie Rupert E. was in was B. Monkey. A young Jonathan Rhys Meyer was also in this movie.

    I am soooo excited. I think I need to leave this room so I can jump up and down in my bedroom. lol

    I bet after like two weeks he will be working on a NEW project. And he’ll be the lead in that one! He’s using all this time off very wisely!

    Man, this movie is going to be so great. I still say this is how it needs to go: Wild Target out in March or June then HBP out in July then CB out during the market for films like this, the September/October or later times for awards. Plus it can ride off the popularity of Wild Target and HBP and HBP can ride off the popularity of WT and WT might get extra when HBP comes out. It’s all very perfect. :D

    I’ve been a fan of Rupert Everett ever since I first saw him in “Princess Daisy” and let me tell you folks, that was a loooong time ago! And my favourite comic book character Dylan Dog actually borrows Rupert’s facial features, so when they made the movie based on Dylan Dog, guess who played him? :) Alas the movie sucked, but who cares!

    Rupert Everett was brilliant in Another Country and Dance with a Stranger with Miranda Richardson (I love her too).

    I know who Gregor Fisher is, he was in Gormenghast, he played the Fly, but he changes his appearance so much, he doesn’t look the same.

    And, I may be hallucinating, but didn’t Rupert Everett have a quote somewhere about our Rupert Grint?? It was something complimentary, but very homoerotic. Quick, someone find it for me.

    Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy had cameos with another funny redhead ( Simon Pegg ) in Hot Fuzz. Not to be confused with the other hot redheaded Simon (Woods) who also starred with Kim Nixon in Cranford, who starred with Kiera Knightly (who dates RUPERT FRIEND) at may soon live nextdoor to Rupert Grint!!!!

    Eileen Atkins was also in Ballet Shoes, wasn’t she? I thought I read that on IMDB. Which connects him back to Emma and HP. lol And Bill will be reuniting with two of his Love Actually co-stars. It really is a small acting world in the UK!

    That is true, Laura. I really do feel like what Ivana had in her chart is coming true. Rupert is going to become popular this year! And he’s doing it away from the HP franchise. :) Which in turns means they’ll have to think about his popularity for a change when DH comes.

    Laura, I was thinking the same thing. Everything you read from the original is that Antoine is reluctant apprentice, etc. Someone who has seen will have to tell us… if their french can figure that out. heh

    Is anyone else guessing that Rupert and Emily’s characters will be renamed? I realize the article focused mainly on Bill, but I got the impression that they didn’t mention character names because those two will be renamed.

    I hope the early 2009 release date for CB is true. So he can he use the time to start promoting Cherrybomb. We NEED lots of photoshoots and interviews. LOTS! Rupert needs to be everywhere. I want him to release CB before he starts filming DH in mid-Feb.

    We need to start a new Rupert’s Army project. We need to bug magazines like Empire and Total Film and such to feature Rupert! Three films in a row in 2009. two more blockbusters secured (i.e. DH 1 & 2), that’s something!
    Has any of you guys had a chance to read our Rupert’s Army section yet? If not, please do so, and get ready for a new project! I’ll update soon!
