Driving Lessons mentioned in Total Film

» April 17 by Ivana in Gallery with 13 Comments

While we are still experiencing this terrible news drought (Come on Warner, give us a reason to rejoice!), I thought you might like to know that Rupert’s flick Driving Lessons is mentioned in the latest issue of Total Film (No. 141) alongside other films which contain “useful life tips”. The feature called “The Movie Guide to Life” is very funny indeed, and I’ve scanned the Rupert bit only. Until our gallery is fully operational, you can see the magazine contents here and the article itself here.

  1. LOL That’s so freakin’ cute!

  2. Yeah, what I liked most is the fact that they featured Driving Lessons (i.e. a small indie flick) alongside blockbusters mostly. And they put Rupert’s picture on the contents page!

  3. It definitely is awesome! I think DL surprised a lot of critics. They always want something new and fresh, but really, everything pretty much has been done and all JB ever wanted to do was tell his story. It’s going to be a cult fave years from now. It’s already becoming one in fact. :)

  4. Great find Ivana. Thanks for sharing. I told ya Rupert’s movie would be a cult classic.

  5. And you know, sometimes that is better. A lot of times a movie is so popular it doesn’t stand the test of time. It’s just the thing of the moment and 20 years later, no one cares. Of course, obviously, not every major movie is like that, but more so than not. Than there are those movies like Driving Lessons that is good – it didn’t smash box office records, but it did well by normal standards… but now it’s becoming a classic. I love it. :)

I dont know if anybody seen this yet, I found it while ago, it’s Make A Wish foundation and girl and her father met the harry potter cast and eveything it explains it all there

  7. Hans Solo and Ron on the SAME page…. *sigh*

  8. Oh yeah, and the news drought is EXACTLY why all of this crap is coming out in the tabloids about everyone.

Did anyone see the homepage of msn.com? It’s under A-list searches. It’s called Harry Potter Scandals.

Give us some good news WB or next thing we’ll hear is that Dan and Rupert jointly adopted Michael Jackson.

Also, the fact that WB is being SO secretive this late in the game (it will be 6 months until the movie this May) makes me nervous.

What are they hiding? *tugs chin and raises eyebrows*

By now we should have had a really interesting poster that doesn’t give away too much (I think we did, but if they were authentic, they didn’t do much for me.) We should have some stills that could have kept us guessing at the scene.

Am I right? I’m convinced we’ve had more than this by now in the past. Or was it because when they are making the movies, we ususally have book stuff to talk about and vice versa.

WB is taking all of the fun out of fandom. I don’t what it all crammed in in the next 6 months. That’s no fun….

As a fandom, we have the patience of Job, but they’ve got to give us something to feed off of. We’re eating our fingers off here with bad crappy stories.

The only thing that is messed up about the latest tabloid thing related to Rupert is that it’s getting on the big gossip blogs. They don’t realize that (especially in the last fews months) the trio has been connected to a different story each week. We are use to this.

    Best. Comment. Ever.

No, you’re right, AJ. We usually have a teaser trailer by now, looking forward to the ABC bts, and a nice teaser poster for sure. I thought the latest fake one made the most sense. The green dark mark! Just like on the book cover, showing the major climax of the movie without anyone knowing it. And I think we usually do have another still or two by now.

I think we’re all used to the news coming in major droves around 3 months – give or take – before the release of the movie. That is rather common for them, but usually we’ve had other things to think about and all.

Well, despite the WB saying that there are no plans for BTS with GoF next Saturday (not this one, but the next), I think we’re going to get a sneak peek. Maybe even what they consider the teaser trailer. If you look, ABC clearly calls it a “Saturday Night Special Presentation” – and it’s not special unless there is something with it. (Unless they’ve changed this recently, I don’t know.) HP sites asked if there would be BTS stuff, not if there would be anything with the GoF deal like a clip or something. You have to be crafty sometimes!

  10. Glad to have the site back! This is definite, isn´t it?

I agree, I think DL will be a cult favorite until the end of time.
