Rupert Grint: “It’s Only a Play” Interview Roundup!

IOAP Icon1September 2nd, 2014, 2:54pm– The first week of performances are now over and Rupert Grint will be taking the stage in It’s Only a Play tonight for the second week of previews. Although, we will have to wait for official reviews until opening night on October 9th, we are seeing comments from lucky audience members already and Rupert looks to be impressing crowds with his portrayal of Frank Finger.

Rupert has also been in the media the last couple of days and we wanted to gather all the lovely interviews for you here to make it a bit easier.

The first article is from Times Square Chronicles where Rupert answers questions about It’s Only a Play, Mojo, his charity work and even some personal fun facts. You can read that here.

The next interview is with Time Out New York which focuses on the Broadway experience and what Rupert thinks about living in New York for such a long time. Read the entire interview here.

Is this your first time in New York for an extended period?
Yeah, it is. I used to come over almost every year for Harry Potter promotional things, one week here and there, but this is the longest I’ve been here. Sometimes I do feel quite far away from home, but it’s a great city, it’s got such energy. I’m really enjoying it.

Lastly, we want to share two new video interviews from the press conference on August 19th. Below, we have coverage from The Broadway Channel and CBS New York also interviewed the impressive cast which you can see here.

While we can’t see his costume yet, we can certainly see his makeup!

“It’s Only a Play” Stars Talk Rupert Grint’s Broadway Debut!

IOAP Icon1August 20th, 2014, 5:43pm– Yet another article has surfaced from yesterday’s eventful press conference for It’s Only a Play and this time we get to learn what Rupert Grint‘s co-stars think about our favourite redhead and his upcoming Broadway debut.

He told us in June that he was feeling terrified about being on stage in New York and this is apparently also the impression he gave his co-stars when first meeting them.

Megan Mullally talks about that here:

“But he’s adorable and lovely, and he was an absolute basket case for the first week or so. The first night when I met him, there was a little dinner, and he was standing outside, smoking a cigarette, and I was, like, ‘Are you Rupert?’ And he said he was, and he just instantly announced that he was terrified. I said, ‘Oh, you’re going to be great.’ He said, ‘I’m so intimidated.’ I said, ‘No, no. We should be intimidated with you.’” Mullally is pretty impressed with his work, so far. “I think he’s fantastic. I think he’s going to be great in this; he’s really good. Those goddamn Brits!”

Nathan Lane also had some very nice words to say about Rupert and he gives us an idea of what to expect from Rupert’s portrayal of Frank Finger:

Nathan Lane says Grint is a natural stage actor. “And it’s wonderful, his part is a particularly showy role; he has a lot of funny stuff,” Lane told us. “What’s great for Rupert is it’s so the opposite of what he has played, what we know him best for in the Harry Potter films. He’s such a disagreeable character. He’s very unhappy, he’s angry about everything,” the Tony Award–winner said, laughing. “It’s pretty spectacular.”

You can read the entire article here with more quotes from Matthew Broderick and Rupert himself about his Broadway debut.

Remember, previews are only a little over a week away, so don’t miss your chance to see this amazing cast on stage together at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Get your tickets here.
